The coconut Palms sway, the fisherman cast their nets from little boat on the sun sparkles of a thousand different waterways. This tour takes in all the must see areas of Kerala. Day 1 Arrive Cochin Arrive at Cochin International airport. Please clear immigration and visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. Castle and King India executive will wait at the arrival with a placard in your name to greet you. Thereafter you will be assisted with a transfer and check in at the hotel. Kochi (colonial name Cochin) is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula in the breathtakingly scenic and prosperous state of Kerala, hailed as 'God's Own Country'. Its strategic importance over the centuries is underlined by the sobriquet Queen of the Arabian Sea. Informally, Cochin is also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala. Overnight stay at Taj Malabar. Day 2 In Cochin Morning proceed for Cochin sightseeing visiting the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry is renowned for its wall murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana. The Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town. The St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. The Santa Cruz Basilica originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese. The Chinese fishing nets are huge cantilevered fishing nets believed to have brought to Kochi by Chinese traders. Finally, the Willingdon Island, named after Lord Willingdon, is the headquarters of the Southern Naval Command of India. Also enjoy the Traditional Kathakali Dance show. Overnight stay at Taj Malabar. Day 3 Cochin toMunnar (By Road) After breakfast transfer to Munnar, a nature-lover’s paradise, snuggling in the green and serene Kannan Devan Hills is a quiet and a restful resort. Panoramic views of low-flying clouds and mist filled valleys make it a pretty little heaven with a cool bracing climate. It was opened up out of virgin forests a century ago by pioneering planters. Within its remote and elderly churches - gracious, stonestructures with ancient chandeliers and rosewood pews. A little beyond lies Anaimudi, South India’s highest peak. In the vicinity is the Eravikulam National Park, the home of the endangered Nilgiri Thar that roams on a stretch of grassland or is seen climbing the pinnacles of the undulating hills. Here you can have a glimpse of a Gaur, Langur, Lion-tailed macaque, and Elephants roaming in herds. Rest of the day is at leisure to soak in the surroundings of lush mountains and tea, coffee & cardamom plantation, Overnight stay at Windermere Estate. Day 4 Munnar A very popular tourist attraction in Munnar, Tata Tea Museum is located around 2 km from Munnar in Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea. The museum showcases various antiquities and the most famous among them is the burial urn excavated from the vicinity of Periakanal Estate, dating back to 2nd century. Curious, old photographs and machinery are also displayed in the museum. For the tourists, to get a glimpse into the history and culture of the region, a video presentation is screened here. The scenic waterfall of Atukkad lies at a distance of about 2 km from Munnar town. Amidst lush green forest and hills, this waterfall is a worth visiting spot in Munnar. With fewer crowds, it is an ideal place for romantic scapes and picnics. Located around 21 km from Munnar, this arch dam with its natural surroundings is a major attraction of Munnar. From the top of the Dam, tourists can have a panoramic view of the natural greens. Adjoining to the Dam is the beautiful lake with boating facilities. Overnight stay at Windermere Estate. Day 5 Munnar to Periyar (By Road) Morning transfer to Periyar (Thekkady), reach and check in to hotel. Thekkady, the very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice-scented plantations. In the Periyar forest of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India and spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks. Afternoonenjoy the cruise on the Periyar Lake. Here you will be able to see a large variety of wildlife, which include elephants, monkeys, deer, wild boaretc, and quite a lot of unique birds can also be spotted. There are also few tribal villages to explore. Later, come back to the hotel Rest of the day free at leisure. 0vernight stay in Spice Village. Days 6 Periyar to Backwaters (By Road) After breakfast at Hotel, transfer to Kumarakom reach and board your private houseboat, converted from a Kettuvallam or traditional rice barge, and sail through the beautiful backwaters of Kerala. The backwaters in Kerala are a world of serenity and wonderment. This large aquatic area is a vast network of lagoons, lakes, rivers and canals, and the people who live in this region have created their own distinct lifestyles. Witness the peaceful way of life on these amazing waterways with lunch, dinner and overnight stay on board; this will be a real highlight of your holiday. Your journey will start from Pallathurathy starting at 12 noon cruise towards Kannjipadam- The land situated in a picturesque surrounding with- all beauty of Kerala - Coconut palm plantations, paddy fields, backwaters & canals. After lunch at Kannjipadam cruise via Thottapally towards- Thakazhi by reaching by 5.30PM. We will anchor the house boat and then after proceed for a village walks. The land is bounded by backwater and is the birth place of famous Malyalam writer ThakazhiSivasankara Pillai. Thakazhy was a centre of Buddhism during the early days. It was under the Chempakassery Kingdom, which is annexed to Travancore by MarthandaVarma. After you finish exploring the village return to house boat for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight stay on Houseboat. Day 7 Backwaters toCochin (By Road) - Depart Morning transfer to Cochin airport to board flight for hometown. Tour finishes with wonderful memories and direct transfer to Trivandrum Airport to board onward flight. Please allow a minimum of 2 ½ hours for flight check-in formalities at the airport.
